Fightin' Texas Aggie Vet

We have a vet in the family...a Fightin' Texas Aggie Vet that is! Dr. Alese Eichhorn, or Ese(pronounced EC) as we call her, graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Alese has dreamed of being a vet since she was a little girl, and now, with a lot of hard work and determination, she made her dreams come true. Her graduation was on Thursday, May 13th at 2:00pm; and even though it was in the middle of the week we all made the drive down to College Station. We wouldn't have missed it for anything! We are all so proud of our little doctor:)

A Day at the Ranch

Our good friends, the Crenshaw's, own a ranch in Hamilton. One weekend in March they invited our family, along with the Sykora's, to spend some quality time together at the ranch. There is a small house with indoor plumbing, a kitchen, tv (no cable), and a couple of bedrooms. A nice sized creek runs through the ranch, and there is plenty of land for the kids to roam on. We brought Pop's Mule and the kids' four-wheeler, so the kids could ride around without worrying about cars or houses to run into. It was a perfect day to be outdoors enjoying time with our wonderful family & friends!
Cason & Maddie patiently waiting for someone to drive them around.
There is a special place at the ranch, called The Chimney, that everyone likes to visit. At one time there was a house that surrounded the chimney; however, now all that's left is the chimney.

While the guys took the kids fishing, Cheryl, Lora, and I found a spot to
soak up some sun and read.
Evidently fishing didn't last too long!
Such serious talk for 10 & 8 year olds!
Jackson did not want any part of the dirty creek water.
He sat on the Mule with Corey & didn't even get his feet wet.

Basketball, Basketball, & More Basketball

Maddie & Jackson both played basketball again this season with the Lorena Leopard Basketball League. They both practiced once a week and played their games on Saturday. Luckily, they played in the same gym, so their games were never at the same time!
Jackson got to play with all boys this year-can we get an AMEN for that?! Last year was organized chaos, but this year they could actually make it up & down the court. The coach tried to get them to run plays; sometimes the plays worked, but mostly they did not. Whether they worked or not is beside the point because they sure looked cute in their uniforms!

Maddie's age group played full-court basketball, without wristbands-can I get an AMEN for that too?! She was by far the tallest girl on her team, so she played down low. Maddie inherited her momma & daddy's backside, which happened to be a good thing at this point in time. She used that junk in her trunk to make her way to the basket!
As you can see in the picure below, dribbling was not one of Maddie's strongest skills. She really liked to dribble with two hands, and the refs did not!!!

After the Lorena Leopard Basketball League's season was over, one of the coaches from another team in Maddie's division wanted to put a select team together. He asked Maddie to play on his team & she happily accepted! A couple of weeks later they played in a tournament in Robinson. They had only practiced a couple of times together so all the kinks weren't worked out. They lost both of their games, but played their hearts out!

Coach John wants to keep the Lorena Leopards practicing and playing in tournaments. Hopefully, we'll get some wins on our record soon!

Sensational Six Year Old

We have one sensational six year old in our house as of February 2, 2010! Happy Birthday, Cason!!!
To celebrate Cason's birthday, Corey took cookies and juice to his class . Cason's teacher, Mrs. Channon, had a birthday hat, stuffed animal, & book for him. We love Mrs. Channon!

Cason's class had to rearrange the words to the Birthday Song, and then sing the song to him.

We also celebrated Cason's birthday at Bubba's. Mamaw brought him a yummy cookie cake and we all sang to him. Luckily, nobody cried during the birthday song!
